One of the storied families of Illinois agriculture is the Funk family of southern McLean County. Tricia Braid, a descendant of one of those 10 Funk children, said the Illinois prairie was well-suited for the family. Isaac and Cassandra Funk arrived in 1824, where they built their original log cabin, it was 8 by 10 foot and they went on to have 10 children and owned about 25,000 acres in McLean county.
